Representatives from Real Value IGA were in attendance at Victoria Park in Grenville, as the Supermarket is one of the main sponsors of the tournament. In less than favourable weather conditions, the Team witnessed the St. Patrick Chiefs defeat the St. Andrew Planters by two goals to nil.
With the field water-logged, and players finding it hard to maintain their footing, the Chiefs acclimatised themselves far quicker than their opponents. Indeed, the visitors took the lead in the 4th minute of play – the ball nestling in the far corner beyond the despairing dive of the Planters’ ‘keeper.
After the interval, it was a matter of deja vu, as the Chiefs once again scored quickly. In the 49th minute, their lead was doubled following a defensive mix-up in the Planters’ penalty area.
Onlookers were given the opportunity to apply for Frequent Shopper cards at the Real Value IGA tent, with the added bonus of spinning a prize wheel for the chance to win shopping vouchers, bags, and Frequent Shopper Points.
As a continuation of the Company’s committment to it’s Community Outreach program, the Real Value IGA team will be at many more games throughout the competition. Their next appearance will be at the National Stadium on March 24th, when the Chiefs will take on the St. David Lions at 6pm, followed by the St. George Stars vs. St. John Wizards.
